The Rural Municipality of Morell is seeking a motivated and reliable individual for the position of Chief Maintenance Officer. This is a seasonal position from May to October, with a possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform lawn maintenance, irrigation, and turf management across all municipal properties, ensuring grounds are well maintained and buildings are clean and prepared for rentals and public use.
  • Operate a tractor and other commercial machinery safely and efficiently, and be able to safely pull a fully loaded trailer.
  • Maintain municipal machinery, equipment, and vehicles, including minor mechanical repairs and sharpening blades as required.
  • Perform carpentry and general maintenance tasks including small construction projects, deck repairs, painting, bleacher maintenance, and other facility repairs.
  • Mentor, train, and supervise seasonal summer maintenance staff.
  • Assist with event setup and facility preparation when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support municipal operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in property and grounds maintenance, or facility maintenance.
  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial equipment.
  • Mechanical and carpentry skills.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise seasonal staff.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence required.

Hours per week: 37.5
Hourly wage: $23 – $27

History Fact
