Call for Council Nominations for Municipal Elections

 

MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT NOTICE OF NOMINATION PROCEEDINGS

PURSUANT TO SECTION 42 OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT, AND SUBSECTION 25(1) OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION REGULATIONS


Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Rural Municipality of Morell that a Municipal By-Election will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, to elect the mayor and 1 councillor for the Rural Municipality of Morell for the term of office termination on the 6th day of December 2026.

The nomination period for the council positions noted above commences on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, and closes at 2:00 pm on Nomination Day on Friday, December 22, 2023.

Nominations can be received at the election office, 12 Sunset Crescent, Morell, by the Municipal Electoral Officer or Returning Officer at the following times:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 9 am and 2 pm
  • Friday, December 22, 2023, 9 am to 2 pm

The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 am on Tuesday December 26, 2023.

History Fact

In 1928, Morell's increasing population led to the creation of a mission church. St. Lawrence Hall was moved into the village of Morell, and it was subsequently consecrated the Church of St. Teresa of the Little Flower.
