The Rural Municipality of Morell invites all homes and businesses located within the municipal boundaries to participate in the Morell Annual Christmas Decorating Contest. This new event gives local Christmas decorators a chance to win the title of best decorated home or business, with top five residential properties and one top commercial property receiving a prize. Prize sponsors are the Rural Municipality of Morell, Morell Co-op, Morell Lions Club, and Kelly’s Christmas Tree Farm. 

1. Participation is open to all residents and businesses located in the Rural Municipality of Morell.
2. Contest entry is free.
3. Participants have to register no later than December 15, 2024 by filling out the registration form at https://forms.gle/bFVdNs7Sc4BrJBqX8.
4. Contest is for exterior decorations, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.
5. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore, only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets). Judges will not enter the property to view back or side yards.
6. Judging criteria will include:

• • Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations.
  • Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.
  • Overall presentation.

7. To be eligible, participants must have all lights, animations and decorations in place and activated for the judging period on the evenings between December 15-20. Five residential prizes and one business prize will be awarded:

• • First residential place – waiver of the 2025 sewer fee ($225 value)
  • Second residential place – $150 gift card
  • Third residential place – $100 gift card
  • Fourth residential place – $25 gift card and Kelly’s Christmas tree*
  • Fifth residential place – $25 gift card and Kelly’s Christmas tree*
  • First business place – $100 gift card and Kelly’s Christmas tree*

*Christmas tree prizes unclaimed this year, can be claimed during 2025 Christmas season. 

8. All prizes must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions and have no cash value.
9. Winners will be announced on the municipal Facebook page and website.
